Louis Vuitton opens a new culinary destination in Saint-Tropez

Michelin-starred chef Arnaud Donckele and renowned pastry chef Maxime Frédéric channel the elegant spirit of the Côte d’Azur into a refined menu.

Louis Vuitton continues its culinary journey with a new venue at Hotel White 1921 in France’s Saint-Tropez. Opened 1 July 2023, the Maison has teamed up with Michelin-starred chef Arnaud Donckele and renowned pastry chef Maxime Frédéric to create a semi-gastronomic menu composed of in-season, high-quality ingredients from local producers. The dishes are crafted with artisanal excellence and exceptional raw materials, presenting a menu of Mediterranean flavours and a relaxed, welcoming, elegant spirit.

Evoking the warm and elegant spirit of the Côte d’Azur, the duo’s refined menu explores the flavors and relaxed lifestyle synonymous with the region while providing guests with a space to enjoy the delights of the world’s top chefs in an exceptional Louis Vuitton environment. The restaurant is located in the dreamlike village of Saint-Tropez, between the Vieux Port and Place des Lices, in the heart of a large, distinguished residence.

Inspired by the world of Louis Vuitton, the interior décor showcases the striking blue and white check pattern unveiled in the new ‘LV By The Pool‘ summer collection. The liberal use of stone, wood and ceramic is in keeping with the natural aesthetic prized by Louis Vuitton, while pieces from the Objets Nomades collection, including the Zanellato/Bortotto Lanterns and the Origami Flowers by atelier oï, are peppered throughout the space.

The restaurant opens at 3pm for clients to enjoy the sweet creations of Maxime Frédéric at afternoon tea until 6pm. Guests can expect to encounter a selection of treats, from desserts and chocolate bars to tarte tropézienne, and soft brioche flavoured with orange blossom with a crispy coating printed with the Louis Vuitton monogram motif. This contrasts with the welcome coolness of a scoop of sorbet, while the sculptural Dolce Vita cup combines the taste of three ice creams that are atypically unsweet.

Dinner service runs from 7:30pm to 11pm and is headed by Arnaud Donckele. Sushi made with Camargue rice unfurls unique umami experiences across the tongue, served beside a ceviche of sea bream, John Dory and other fish from smallscale, local, eco-friendly fishing. The entire region – land and sea – is in the spotlight, whether the stars are mackerel, sardines and Genoese gamberoni or artichokes, aubergines, hazelnuts and beefsteak tomatoes grown by Provençal market gardeners and picked that very morning. Together, the two Normans have imagined a gourmet journey rooted in the local terroir, a veritable ode to Mediterranean aromas, echoing their shared vision of refined and authentic gastronomy.
