Emirates launches limited-edition upcycled luggage collection

While Emirates’ aircraft are being updated with refreshed interiors, the discarded materials are being upcycled into suitcases, bags, belts and shoes.

Aluminium headrests, leather from disused sofas, seatbelts and even fur from the captain’s old seat have been recovered from the refurbishment of Emirates A380 and 777 aircraft and refashioned into a limited-edition capsule collection of Emirates luggage, bags and accessories. Sourced from 16 retrofitted aircraft, more than 14,000kg of materials have already been salvaged, including high-quality leather from first-class seats and 95% wool fabric blends. These have been laundered, deep cleaned by hand, disinfected and leather-conditioned before being sewn into unique pieces.

The limited-edition range features a selection of suitcases, backpacks, handbags, cardholders, toiletry bags, belts and shoes all designed and handmade by Emirates tailors in a dedicated cabin workshop at Emirates Engineering facility in Dubai. Scheduled to go on sale in 2024 in Emirates Official Stores, all proceeds will be donated to children in need via the Emirates Airline Foundation.

Emirates limited-edition luggage collection

The Emirates luggage collection offers travellers the chance to own a little piece of Emirates history while contributing to sustainable practices and a charitable foundation. As each piece is handmade to order, customers may be able to request personalised laser engraving on some one-of-a-kind bags, suitcases or document holders. Aviation fans will be able to register their interest soon, but these special pieces are in limited quantity.

A selection of bags and accessories will be on display at the Dubai Airshow in Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) from 13 to 17 November 2023 at the Emirates stand.
