France’s new ultra-luxe barge has just three cabins and exclusive Champagne lunches

Belmond is launching a new ultra-luxe barge in Champagne and there’s plenty to pop corks about. Part of its unmatched French collection; Coquelicot will begin cruising in May, 2023.

In a partnership with the world’s oldest champagne house, Maison Ruinart, guests will be treated to a private tasting lunch – the first five-course lunch of its kind.

There is also access to the 18th-century Taissy vineyard, where you can learn about Maison Ruinart’s pioneering sustainability initiatives and have a technical tasting of cuvées.

A new standard of sophistication

Coquelicot will have just three glamorous cabins with marble ensuites. There’s an indoor salon, an expansive deck, and – of course – a champagne bar.

The top deck will be the jewel in the crown: two lounges, an open kitchen and a shaded dining area so you can unwind and laze around as the barge meanders the calm waterways.

Coquelicot’s namesake, the red poppy, is subtly in the design, in the hand-cut red marble side tables and hand-painted petals that line the hallway.

Charter your own course

Guests can craft their own itinerary. Whether it’s an art-focused tour of Champagne, an active adventure, or a series of epicurean visits to Europe’s most celebrated and secret wine producers.

At night, sit with an aperitivo by the boat’s champagne bar stocked with your preferred labels and dine on dishes created by your private chef, then retire to your spacious cabin for a blissful night’s sleep.
