Rosa Alpina has been the base for exploring Italy’s majestic UNESCO-protected Dolomites since 1939. Now, it will undergo extensive refurbishment to usher in a new era as an Aman property.
Nestled in the charming village of San Cassiano in the Dolomites, Rosa Alpina has long been a favourite retreat for skiers and adventurers alike. With its fabulous restaurants, (one recently awarded its third Michelin Star), spa and opulent rooms, it’s the perfect haven after a long day on the slopes. Now taken over by leading luxury hotel brand Aman, it’s preparing for Rosa Alpina 2.0.
Set to reopen for the 2024/5 winter season, Rosa Alpina will see a complete remodelling of all guestrooms, as well as architectural enhancements to the exterior and interior. The illustrious property will also have its wellness and gastronomy offerings extended.
Spacious suites
The refurbishment will be overseen by Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston Architects who most recently transformed the Crown Building into Aman New York. The redesign will include a complete remodelling of all guestrooms. The current 52 rooms and suites will be reduced to just 50, each varying in size and layout. Two 150-square-metre Presidential Suites will form the most spacious room category, alongside the existing 280-square-metre Chalet Zeno, a private refuge accommodating up to six guests.
Refined dining and wellness at Rosa Alpina 2.0
Architectural enhancements to the interior and exterior of the hotel will allow for a more diverse and extensive culinary experience, with the addition of private dining spaces for intimate celebrations. The refined gastronomy will draw upon the hotel’s rich culinary heritage, providing a variety of options, from informal alfresco fondues to exquisite fine dining multi-course feasts.
An outdoor swimming pool and jacuzzi will be added to the property as well as a meticulously curated treatment menu to complement the new facilities. Plus, the new activities centre for all ages will see families catered for.
The next chapter
As the hotel embarks on this next chapter, the Pizzinini family will remain firmly at the helm having presided over Rosa Alpina for three generations.
The transformation of Rosa Alpina will include careful consideration of the exquisite natural environment surrounding the property. Once reopened, the hotel will continue to act as a springboard into its spectacular setting. Providing privileged access to over 1,200 kilometres of slopes in the winter and, during the warmer months, an array of thrilling outdoor adventures via foot, bike or climbing.
