For travellers who seek the finest that the world has to offer

True North is the luxury Australian cruise you’ve dreamed about

TRUE NORTH‘s predecessor, TRUE NORTH II will re-join the fleet, with her maiden voyage scheduled for March 2023.

For more than 30 years, True North Cruises has been tracking down unique experiences in Australia, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.

Now, with the introduction of the second boat, improved availability will be offered. The intimate vessel can host 22 guests, and includes five dedicated adventure boats and a ship’s helicopter. TRUE NORTH II will also offer a 25% saving on prices compared to her sister ship.

Uncompromising on comfort and style, the vessel will still feature unparalleled access to wilderness, multiple daily activities, revered onboard dining and an exciting array of new itineraries.

New itineraries

TRUE NORTH II is set to complement its sister ship’s schedule, as well as offer new itineraries, including four-day and 10-day adventures in the Kimberleys, a 13-night Great Barrier Reef itinerary, plus a seven-night charter opportunity that will feature Christmas and New Year in Sydney.

From fishing and snorkelling at the Montebello Islands to watching the solar eclipse at Ningaloo Reef to ringing in the new year in Sydney, it truly will be an adventure to embark on.

What makes a True North adventure exceptional?

True North and True North II are purpose-built to go where bigger ships cannot – providing an enviable level of access to hidden and otherwise-unreachable destinations.

Whilst others sail past, True North can navigate shallow bays and river systems. You’ll get intimate and stylish access to impressive natural attractions. The ship’s design and the small group (max 36 guests) also allows for activity-based itineraries.

Highlights include hiking, fishing, mud crabbing, picnics, natural history interpretation, seeing fascinating rock art belonging to the land’s traditional owners and helicopter flights.

True North Adventures

True North is one of the only Australian cruise companies that can truly access the still-wild coast of Western Australia.

You can sail between WA’s intriguing Abrolhos Islands, a rarely seen archipelago comprised of 122 islands and coral reefs off the coast of Geraldton.

Explore the world-famous Ningaloo Reef. Experience fishing paradise at the Montebello Islands and marvel at the pristine Rowley Shoals.

In the South Pacific, take a helicopter flight over the active Rabaul volcano, visit the stirring Isurava memorial on the Kokoda Track and witness a crocodile initiation ceremony on the mysterious Sepik River.

Whether you are witnessing breathtaking majesty in the Kimberley, being humbled by the overwhelming hospitality of the South Pacific or kicking up your heels in Sydney Harbour, you’ll quickly discover why True North remains one of Australia’s leading cruise companies.

Spacious Cabins

Life onboard is comfortable and stylish. You’ll have a choice of three cabin classes: Explorer Class staterooms, River Class staterooms and Ocean Class cabins.

Guests can expect cabins with modern décor and en-suites or private facilities.

But a True North journey is not about the ship. In fact, guests spend most of their time on excursions with bespoke itineraries designed for travellers who prefer to immerse themselves in the destination.

Dining experiences

Dining features sustainable and organic Australian cuisine. The ship’s menus are destination-inspired and feature the very best of locally sourced ingredients.

Signature dishes might include barramundi – caught by your own hand that very day – and plump black-lip oysters that you no doubt helped to prise from the rock while sipping champagne. Sample mud crabs cooked on the beach at sunset and Spanish mackerel served as sashimi in the ship’s lounge.

Hometown highlights include delicious mangrove jack and finger-mark bream, seasonal yellow-fin tuna and Yeeda Estate beef.

You’ll want to linger in the dining saloon with its relaxed, social atmosphere. After dinner, guests are invited to the ship’s lounge for drinks, complimented occasionally with light entertainment.

The True North heli-picnics are an unforgettable way to enjoy an Aussie barbeque with a variety of seafood cooked alongside a private waterfall in the wild.

Kimberley Cruising

Life onboard is quintessentially Australian. The crew is comprised mostly of young, passionate locals and the atmosphere is stylish yet laid-back and relaxed. With action-packed forays in remote locations, True North’s Kimberley adventures offer a classic ‘Aussie Outback’ experience.

True North and True North II’s innovative design allows for the ships to safely navigate the Kimberley’s many shallow bays and river systems. In some instances the captain can manoeuvre under waterfalls, allowing guests to shower on the bow. It’s this kind of spontaneous cruising that will make your time onboard utterly unforgettable.

Sustainable cruising

True North’s itineraries are a low-impact means of accessing wilderness. Only small groups are permitted on shore excursions and no trace of these visits is left.

Each experience also inspires a greater appreciation of the environment and its natural history. Through carefully controlled access and entertaining interpretations, True North seeks to demonstrate the importance of wilderness. All activities are led by highly-trained crew members who encourage minimal impact on the environment. There is no doubt you’ll leave this experience feeling both humbled and inspired by nature.
