London has seen a slew of new hotels open their doors this year, with more yet to come. These new luxury hotels in London have levelled up their game, presenting opulent properties set within historical buildings with fine dining experiences and wellness retreats.

Best new luxury hotels in London 2023

1 Hotel Mayfair

1 Hotel Mayfair has been accepting reservations since July this year, welcoming guests into a serene retreat located in the heart of London’s Mayfair district. Surrounded by parks, galleries and theatres, the hotel boasts the perfect position from which to sightsee in the city. The hotel is pet-friendly, has a gym with fitness classes and utilises sustainable practices throughout the property. In fact, the hotel was crafted from two existing buildings which were repurposed to reduce carbon emissions. There’s an onsite bar and two-Michelin-starred chef Tom Sellers helms the restaurant.

Raffles London at the OWO

Welcoming guests from September 2023, Raffles London at the OWO was one of the year’s most anticipated openings and marks the arrival of the first Raffles in the United Kingdom. The staterooms and offices of 1906 have been transformed into superb suites with views over London’s landmarks, moments away from Downing Street, Buckingham Palace and St James’s Park. The hotel is a buzzing lifestyle and dining precinct itself, with 120 suites and rooms, 85 residences, nine restaurants, three bars, a wellness centre by Pillar Wellbeing and a spa by Guerlain.

The Peninsula London

With reservations available from mid-September 2023, The Peninsula London in Belgravia is the latest property to join the brand’s international portfolio. It’s one of the most beautiful new luxury hotels in London, with 25 residences and 190 luxurious guest rooms and suites decorated with bespoke furnishings that showcase British craftsmanship. The property includes the St. George Ballroom, a spa and wellness centre, 25-metre indoor pool, restaurants, bars and lounges. The hotel’s signature rooftop restaurant, Brooklands, offers modern British cuisine, while Canton Blue and its adjacent bar, Little Blue, serve Chinese cuisine, cocktails and tea. The Lobby offers traditional Peninsula afternoon tea while fresh-made salads, sandwiches and sweets are available throughout the day at The Peninsula Boutique and Café.

The Chelsea Townhouse

The newest addition to the Iconic Luxury Hotels collection is The Chelsea Townhouse, set across three characterful Queen Anne-style, Victorian red-brick townhouses, each connected by staircases and hidden corridors. Opened in September 2023, The Chelsea Townhouse is home to 36 uniquely designed bedrooms, ranging from spacious suites to cosy rooms for solo travellers. It’s one of the most beautiful new luxury hotels in London and the property has a prized location just off the fashionable Sloane Street and artisanal Pavilion Road, a relaxed all-day dining salon, a cosy library and private access to the exclusive Cadogan Gardens.

One Sloane

This collaboration between the world-renowned hotelier Costes, revered designer Francois-Joseph Graf and the 300-year-old Cadogan Estate, is located just off Chelsea’s Sloane Square and is one of the best new luxury hotels in London. With 30 rooms and suites, a top-floor restaurant, lobby and a downstairs bar, the 1889 property has been completely transformed. Furnished with restored antiques and pieces by British designers, One Sloane is an opulent property in an elevated address that will cater to the most discerning of travellers. The hotel opened in September 2023.

The Emory

Set to open in Knightsbridge at the end of 2023, The Emory is a modern architectural masterpiece designed by the late Richard Rogers and Ivan Harbour of the architectural firm RSHP. It boasts 60 light-filled suites set over nine floors complete with a penthouse designed by Rigby & Rigby. Each floor will showcase the aesthetic of a different world-class interior designer including Alexandra Champalimaud, André Fu, Pierre Yves Rochon, Rémi Tessier and Patricia Urquiola. Meanwhile, chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten will be introducing his highly acclaimed concept of fresh, local and conscious cuisine to London for the very first time. Furthermore, a newly created innovative wellness space with a 22-metre pool will be set across four floors for guests.

Mandarin Oriental Mayfair

Offering a unique stay in the city’s heart at Hanover Square, Mandarin Oriental Mayfair is one of the new luxury hotels in London. Comprised of 50 guestrooms, 77 private residences, a spa with 25-metre indoor pool and sauna, the sleek and discreet property will also host the first namesake Akira Back restaurant in the UK from Michelin-starred chef Akira Back, as well as his ‘ABar Lounge’ concept and ‘ABar’ rooftop bar. Mandarin Oriental Mayfair is within walking distance of London’s admired fashion houses on Bond Street and the boutiques of Saville Row.

Broadwick Soho

Designed by Swedish interior designer Martin Brudnizki of Annabel’s fame, Broadwick Soho showcases an opulent English aesthetic with layered interiors, herringbone floors, vibrant artwork and marble bathrooms. Ideally situated in Soho, the property has 57-rooms, one penthouse and nine suites, each with an elephant-shaped mini cocktail bar that acknowledges the property’s mascot. The flagship restaurant, Dear Jackie, will serve up Italian fare, the cafe, Bar Jackie, will cater to both guests and the public, plus there’s a resident-only lounge bar and rooftop terrace.

Best new luxury hotels in London 2024, 2025 and beyond

Six Senses London 2024

Set to open in 2024, the new Six Senses London property will have elevated dining and wellness experiences. Plans for a lobby bar and lounge, a bar, an all-day dining restaurant and a courtyard are included in the proposal, along with 325 square metres dedicated to fitness with a 20-metre indoor pool and wellness club. Residing in the former art deco department store – Whiteleys – in Bayswater, West London, the hotel will comprise 110 guest rooms and suites and a Six Senses Spa. The guest rooms will start from 33 square metres and celebrate the building’s origins while making space for modern living.

The Other House Covent Garden 2025

Tucked away in Covent Garden just moments from the piazza is The Other House Covent Garden, one of 2025’s new luxury hotels in London. The property is going to feature a pool, gym, wellness studios and a rooftop terrace plus dining venues such as The Other Kitchen cafe and Owl & Monkey cocktail bar. The property consists of seven separate historic buildings, including a former rectory, with plans to include a four-storey internal glazed atrium and an additional three-floor extension.

The Zetter Bloomsbury 2025

The Zetter Bloomsbury will be the first new property from the Zetter Hotels group in 10 years. Located just steps away from the British Museum, The Zetter Bloomsbury is positioned right near Russell Square in the heart of London and is planned to have a gym, alfresco garden restaurant and terrace, and 71 guestrooms. A Georgian aesthetic has been planned for the interiors, with floorboards, restored original detailing and antique furniture. The property will be fusing together six 300-year-old townhouses to create the hotel.

The Chancery Rosewood Mayfair 2025

The Chancery Rosewood Mayfair is being built in partnership with real estate developer Qatari Diar in the iconic former U.S. Embassy on Grosvenor Square in London’s Mayfair District. It’s planned to be both a retail destination and hotel, with 139 guestrooms and suites designed by Joseph Dirand, formal and casual dining and entertainment spaces, a wellness facility, five flagship retail spaces and a grand ballroom with space for up to 750 guests.

Waldorf Astoria Admiralty Arch 2025

The first Waldorf Astoria property is set to open in 2025 within the historic Admiralty Arch building. The building, originally commissioned by King Edward VII in memory of Queen Victoria, can be seen at the end of The Mall opposite Buckingham Palace. It’s planned that the hotel will have around 100 rooms, up to four residences and British food and beverage outlets. A two-bedroom VIP suite is rumoured to be included in the refurbishment, which will divide the hotel into north and south wings and include a spa, rooftop brasserie, a 320-person ballroom, an all-day dining terrace and an underground bar.

Mandarin oriental Bankside 2028

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has unveiled plans for its third hotel in London, slated to welcome guests in 2028. It will be located on the city’s South Bank, offering views across the Thames to St Paul’s Cathedral, and easily accessible to the city and West End theatre and shopping precincts.
