It’s this attentive and friendly service that’s set in my memory of The Rees. The view might be the star of the show, but it’s the staff that make the experience something special.

The Rees Hotel Queenstown is a sophisticated, five-star hotel situated right on the shores of Lake Wakatipu on New Zealand’s South Island.

The Rees offers a variety of spacious and luxurious accommodation options, including 60 hotel rooms, 90 apartments and five private, 3-bedroom/ 3.5-bathroom Lakeside Residences, all with terraces showcasing spectacular views across Lake Wakatipu to the alpine panorama of The Remarkables mountain range.

GETTING THERE

The Rees Hotel offers a free shuttle service from the hotel to the downtown area of Queenstown each day and has a private wharf used by water taxi services, fishing charters and jet boat companies. Also offered are VIP Airport Transfers with a personal driver, who will meet you at the arrival gate and assist with your luggage, or alternatively staff can assist with limousines, car rental options, shuttles and taxis.

Direct international flights into Queenstown are available from Australia (Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane). All international flights into Christchurch and Auckland connect directly to Queenstown through domestic airlines Air New Zealand and Jetstar New Zealand. Flight times from Auckland to Queenstown are approximately 1 hour 50 minutes, and the Christchurch to Queenstown flight takes about 1 hour. The hotel itself is conveniently located close to Queenstown Airport and a short drive or walk from the centre of Queenstown.

The Rees Hotel is about 6 hours driving time from Christchurch, 3.5 hours from Dunedin and 2.5 hours from Invercargill. It is easy to find – on the main route between the Queenstown airport and the Queenstown central business district, you will find it on the left-hand side of Frankton Rd.

The executive chef, Ben Batterbury, and his team create exquisite menus taking advantage of the spectacular produce available from passionate local suppliers in Central Otago.
