The enviable watch collection of David Beckham

From Rolex and Patek Philippe to Tudor and Jacob & Co, David Beckham’s timepieces represent milestone achievements and treasured memories.

David Beckham likes nice things. Throughout the four-part Netflix bio-series, Beckham, both David and his friends reveal the professional footballer’s penchant for purchasing premium fashion pieces. In fact, in the first episode David confesses, “as soon as we got money, it was like, I want to buy a nice watch.” Since then, Beckham has gone on to become a prolific watch collector and ambassador.

In a 2018 interview with Revolution, David revealed his interest in watches began around 10 years old. He told the publication, “I don’t think there is any mistake in the watches you buy; each watch is a moment in time where you can actually look back and think: that was when I first started my career with Manchester, or that was my first pay cheque with Manchester United, or that was my hundredth cap for England. And I think watches are like that – moments in time where you can look back on.”

The life and times of David Beckham

David Beckham is one of the world’s most famous football players. He played midfielder for Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and LA Galaxy, and for 115 selections in the English football team, 59 of those as captain. His professional achievements include six England Championship titles, two Major League Soccer cups, one time Champion of Spain and one time UEFA Champion. In 2003, David Beckham was awarded Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to football. Since retiring in 2013, David has gone on to become not only a global ambassador for football, but the president and co-owner of Inter Miami and co-owner of Salford City soccer clubs.

In the years following, David launched an eponymous line of fragrances, a fashion line, a whiskey, and collaborated with some of the world’s biggest fashion, sport and skincare brands. Perhaps most notable, and reflective of his personal interest, is his longtime ambassadorship for premium Rolex-owned Swiss watchmaker, Tudor, since 2017. As part of the 2017 campaign launch, Beckham said of Tudor, “I was attracted to Tudor by the attention to detail I could see in their watches. I then learned about the history of the brand. One of adventure, pioneer diving and daring expeditions. I was instantly hooked”.

David Beckham’s watch collection

In addition to being the face of Tudor, David Beckham has curated an impressive collection of rare and beautiful timepieces rumoured to include watches from Rolex, Jacob & Co and a £285,700 Patek Philippe complication. In fact, a quick scroll through the Beckhams’ Instagram accounts, or photographed public appearances, showcases an enviable array of wristwear. In 2019, Beckham published an interview with Vogue France further explaining his passion for horology. “I’ve always loved watches, the detail and craftsmanship that goes into each piece is what makes this industry unique and the watches feel so special. I am incredibly proud to be a part of this industry.” His personal collection reflects the sentiment.

The footballer has been spotted sporting pieces such as a Rolex Yacht-Master, Jacob & Co Global Five Time Zone and a Bamford x Rolex Sea-Dweller Deepsea. Timepieces such as the Patek Philppe Grand Complications Celestial, Rolex Day-Date 40 and Daytona 116500 have also been snapped on Beckham’s wrist. Meanwhile, his ambassadorship has afforded him a Tudor Pelagos Inter Miami, Tudor Black Bay Chrono S&G and Tudor Heritage Chrono Blue. His current campaign for Tudor promotes a personally curated collection, including a Black Bay, Ranger and Tudor Pelagos.

The Tudor ambassadorship in 2023

This year, David’s commitment to Tudor has seen him appear at the openings of new boutiques in Tokyo’s Shibuya shopping district and Macau. While there, he spoke to guests about the benefits of being adventurous and daring, reflecting the values of his ambassador campaign, #BORNTODARE, and how it ties back to his footballing career. Interestingly, the new Black Bay features a similar colour as Manchester United F.C.
