Platinum pre-flight Beauty Lounge launches at Sydney International

The La Prairie Art of Beauty Lounge at Sydney International Airport has officially launched, offering the jet set a customised luxury spa service before take off, writes Cathy Wagstaff.

As a frequent traveller, I know firsthand how exhausting and dehydrating long-haul flights can be. And as someone who values taking care of their skin, I was thrilled to hear about the opening of La Prairie Art of Beauty Lounge at Sydney International Airport.

The stylish spa is the first permanent luxury beauty lounge and skincare destination at Sydney International Airport. It offers two private treatment pods for a one-of-a-kind pre-flight treatment. The focus is on facials, with four to choose from. Each aims to combat the effects of aircraft travel on your skin with treatments targeted at regenerating your skin before take off.

Sleek design and high-end ambience

Walking into the lounge, I was immediately struck by its sleek design and high-end ambience. Each Art of Beauty treatment is tailor-made using La Prairie products of high-quality, science-backed ingredients from their Platinum Rare, Pure Gold, Skin Caviar, or White Caviar Collections.

I was greeted warmly when I arrived. Once in the private treatment room, my therapist Dianna discussed personalising my experience. This included choosing the music, the pressure for the massage, and even a room scent. Dianna asked me whether I would like to be transported to the Swiss Alps or its lakes, which decided which signature scent would fill my space. I chose the latter and entered a room dressed in a mist of fresh pine.

Platinum pampering

Being among the first to try the Art of Beauty Lounge, I opted for the Platinum Haute-Rejuvenation which is 45 minutes of pure indulgence. The treatment room is inviting, with soft lighting and an incredibly comfortable treatment bed. Dianna explained that the Platinum Haute-Rejuvenation treatment was designed to combat the effects of flying on the skin, including dryness, inflammation and dullness. It started with a gentle cleanse and exfoliation using La Prairie’s Cellular Mineral Face Exfoliator. As someone with sensitive skin, I appreciated that the therapist checked in with me regularly to ensure the pressure and temperature were always comfortable. Next, a Platinum Rare Cellular Life-Lotion was applied to prep my skin for the main event: the Platinum Haute-Rejuvenation mask.

The mask itself is a luxurious experience. Dianna applied a layer of the creamy, metallic silver mask to my face and neck, taking care to avoid the eye area. While the mask dried I enjoyed a neck, back, and hand massage.

I also appreciated that the treatment room was quiet and peaceful. It allowed me to fully unwind and disconnect before my flight.

After removing the mask, La Prairie’s Platinum Rare Cellular Eye Essence was added to my under-eye area, followed by the Platinum Rare Cellular Cream. These products are designed to target fine lines and wrinkles and improve skin texture and radiance.

The verdict

As someone who values taking care of their skin, I was more than impressed – I left the Art of Beauty Lounge feeling relaxed, refreshed, and ready for my flight. The Platinum Haute-Rejuvenation treatment was the perfect way to start my travels on an indulgent note. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to indulge in pre-flight pampering.

As a frequent traveller, I will certainly be back.
