Take a peek inside the home of Elton John

The British music icon is selling his home in Atlanta for US$4.99 million.

Sir Elton John originally purchased the 36th-floor duplex in the ritzy Park Place high-rise tower in the Buckhead neighbourhood of Atlanta for US$925,000. Since then, the singer-songwriter has purchased five of the surrounding units to create a 13,300-square-foot palatial residence that he’s called home for the past 30 years.

Inside the Atlanta home of Elton John

The sprawling home has four bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a kitchen, a double-height salon and dining room, living room, and gallery spaces throughout that display Elton John’s one-of-a-kind photography collection. Incorporated into the floorplan is a fitness studio, a spa/massage room and three spacious guest suites. The property also has nine reserved parking spaces, six private storage units, and five dedicated wine storage units. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the 360-degree views of the city skyline and western canopy, while an abundance of balconies provide perfect spots from which to watch the sunrise or sunset.

Interior design

Some of the key interior design characteristics are the timber veneer walls, intricate wall and ceiling mouldings, Greek-style columns, glass staircases, oversized mirrors and opulent chandeliers. Much of the home is fashioned after an open-plan format, with consideration given to creating a sense of height and space. The huge main bedroom suite is finished with blonde-hardwood floors and floor-to-ceiling mirrors, and has an onyx-clad bathroom, a sumptuous seating area, and a massive walk-in closet with its own balcony.
